I have been writing about The Buzz Club, going into detail about each gig, with fliers, photos, memories and music on this blog. I’ve decided at this stage to publish the definitive list as I have it. This has taken AGES to compile. At the time, in the early years, I wrote down the gigs down as they happened. I stopped doing this in 1990, so for a few years now Danny and myself have been Googling, asking people and digging very deep in our memories to complete the list.
I’m publishing this now as there are a few gaps in 1992 and 1993. It could be that we didn’t do anything in those months or it could be we have simply forgotten. If by chance anyone reading this can help – did you play, were you there, I would be very grateful if you could get in touch please!
I’ll still be writing about all of the gigs in detail, but here we go – the Complete (ish) List!

I went to a few of these. I remember Five Thirty being just about the greatest band I’d ever seen back then. Catherine Wheel were REALLY LOUD. I went to the Manics one but didn’t see a single note of the gig because I bumped into a girl I really liked (it wasn’t mutual) in the bar so I spent hours talking to her instead.

Ha! Brilliant memories – thanks for sharing. Yeah, I though Five-Thirty were gonna be huge!!

Nov 1987, I was there and saw Drink Britain Dry, the most entertaining show by anybody that I ever attended. “Golden rain, from Chernobyl”. Wonderful. They were huge but they should also have been famous.

Jeez, where to begin. The Buzz Club was FRIGGING AMAZING. Started going in 1990 (I think). I seem to remember Sultans of Ping was about the most frenzied. Lead singer came on, flicked his ciggie into the front row and it all kicked off. Catherine Wheel and God Machine night was awesome. Dodgy were great on the night where (for some reason I can’t remember) they couldn’t play an electric set so did acoustic gig which was mind-blowing. Drummer was sat on a crate of beer and would occasionally stop to lob a can into the crowd. Suede was great as by the time they played the second gig they were huge. And That Petrol Emotion singer threatened to stamp on my head but can’t remember what I did to offend him? Great times, thanks Jo. Wish I could turn the clock back and do it all again!!
