I’ve just been sent a few live cassette recordings from 1986. This is my band bluetrain. We had supported the Housemartins in London the previous year and the little poster on the Students’ Union wall mentioned that.
The Housemartins had risen to fame very fast and were by now in the charts and regularly on Top of the Pops. The room was heaving! Great fun to hear the audience’s reaction after all these years. We had yet to record our ‘Land of Gold’ single for Dan Treacy’s Dreamworld Records, but would be in the studio soon after this gig to do so.
Thanks very much Philip Hutchinson for the recording.
