What a brilliant night!
The West End Centre in Aldershot, where Danny and I ran the Buzz Club from 1985 to 1993, are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2025. They invited Danny and myself to host a one off Buzz Club.
We worked on it from the beginning of November 2024 and it took place on 22 February 2025. It sold out the night before. The crowd was wonderful. I don’t think it could have gone any better. I also don’t think I’ve ever had so many people come up and hug me! People thanked me for all the bands we put on previously, plus organising the night itself, giving everyone a much needed night of memories and enjoyment.
It was very special indeed. Friends who hadn’t seen each other for over 30 years came and thanked me for making them feel 18 again. Someone came from Sweden. Lots of people booked hotels and traveled from London and Brighton.
I wasn’t able to take any photos or videos myself, so thanks very much everyone on social media who sent me stuff. I’ve spent the last week collating it all.
Danny and I dropped some amps off the day before, so I took these photos.

I worked, editing audio recordings, visuals and generally getting the section in the Gallery ready over a number of weekends ahead of the gig.
Danny and I worked on the running order.

First on was Patch from The Sundays latest project, The Gymkhana.

Danny and myself were then in conversation with Mark Sutherland in the Gallery. We spoke for about 25 minutes, it was very enjoyable talking about the ideas behind starting the Buzz Club, right up to founding and running the Green Man Festival, our music and beyond.
Here’s a clip of the start of the interview. The Buzz Club‘s beginnings and The Stone Roses.

Danny and I then hot footed it into the main hall, I changed my orange jumper to my INDIE KID black one one and we played a Bluetrain five song set.
The first time we have played live together since Singapore in 1990! We had two rehearsals and were delighted with our performance and the reaction we got.
This is ‘Land of Gold’ which originally came out on Dreamworld Records in 1987.

Revolver (Mat Flint with new line up) then performed, here’s their classic 1991 indie chart topper ‘Heaven Sent An Angel‘.

Mark Sutherland was in conversation with Johnny Hopkins – Johnny was the press officer for Oasis from 1994 to 2000.

Before headliners, Swansea Sound played a cracking set back in the main hall.
Throughout the evening various live Buzz Club audio recordings were played in the Gallery. I put all the Buzz Club photos and flyers I have as visuals to go along with them.
We also showed the live from the Buzz Club videos of the Manic Street Preachers and Elastica.

Thanks so much to everyone who came!
Thanks to Tim Paton, Amanda Carroll, Emma Flint, Sam Bartlett, Billy Reeves and everyone one else who shared videos and photos with me.
See you in another 30 years!
