The Buzz Club: 2 April 1988 Blow Up / 14 Iced Bears

I don’t have any fliers for this one.

14 Iced Bears were from Brighton and had recorded a couple of sessions for John Peel when we booked them. It was actually a Brighton night as headliners, Blow Up were also from there.

Blow Up

Blow Up released a couple of records on Creation Records in 1987 – Alan McGee called them ’…the best band and the worst band that Creation ever signed’!

‘Forever Holiday’ came out on Ediesta Records in 1988 when they played the Buzz Club and was re released a few months later on Cherry Red.

Blow Up front man Nick Roughly had previously been in 14 Iced Bears, so there was a bit of a family feel at the gig. Brighton promoter Josh Dean managed both bands and was also there. It was a quiet night, about 75 people came.
