I have a couple of exciting bits of music news to share!
I have done the lead vocals on an amazing dance track put together by the brilliant Sean Johnston. It features a host of wonderful musicians, including Andy Bell (Oasis / Ride) on guitar.
The 12″ came out on Monday on the Is It Balearic? label through Juno. I’m delighted to say that as the week closes it is currently number one in their Balearic chart and number 2 in their All Genres chart!

‘Sean Johnston has put together some righteous compadres to form a new project – The Summerisle Six. Featuring Jo Bartlett (Yellow Moon Band) on vocals, Andy Bell (Oasis and Ride amongst others) & Duncan Gray on guitars, Kev Sharkey (That Petrol Emotion, The Undertones, Elvis Costello to name a few) on percussion, Mick Somerset Ward on Sax (Clock DVA, Was Not Was, Crooked Man). 12″ including the Rico Connings and dub mixes out now on on Is It Balearic?‘
You can read about the track and how it came together here, an interview Sean did for BAN BAN TON TON.
There will be a digital release on Sean‘s newly set up label later in the month – more news soon.
My other bit of news is that my band Kodiak Island have signed a deal with the legendary Cherry Red Records to release our ‘Play To Your Strengths‘ ep digitally. It came out today!
The e.p. was first released on 10″ vinyl and c.d. by the wonderful folk at i40 Records in February. We played a couple of great launch parties at The Cabin in Camberley and The Social in London.

We’re back at The Cabin in July and have just started work on a couple of new tracks.
Yeeha!
