I’m delighted to say the dance track, produced and put together by Sean Johnston; The Summerisle Six, ‘This Is Something’ is now available digitally. The 12″ was released six weeks ago and got to number one in the Balearic chart.
Andy Bell (Ride / Oasis etc) plays guitar along side a host of other wonderful musicians – Sean’s press release reads:
Sean Johnston has put together some righteous compadres to form a new project – The Summerisle Six. Featuring Jo Bartlett (Yellow Moon Band / Kodiak Island) on vocals, Andy Bell (Oasis and Ride amongst others) & Duncan Gray on guitars, Kev Sharkey (That Petrol Emotion, The Undertones, Elvis Costello to name a few) on percussion, Mick Somerset Ward on Sax (Clock DVA, Was Not Was, Crooked Man). ‘This Is Something’ is a driving pop groover reminiscent of a late 80’s early 90’s Indie Dance anthem. The Dub mix invites the OG mix to ALFOS, turns the lights off and presses the smoke button for a chuggy heartwarming trip across the dance floor. There are no words to describe Rico Connings mix other than to say this 10 min journey has to be heard to be believed. A genuine Balearic gem.
I also have a couple of gigs coming up. Firstly, on 14 July I’m playing a rare solo show. I have an album out at the end of September, but more about that later. Anyway, I’m chuffed to be supporting Dylan LeBlanc in Guildford. The last time Dylan played Guildford, I was in the audience and wrote this review.
I’m working on a set, enjoying playing my Gretsch with a pedal or two and really looking forward to it.
Then, the following Sunday, 17th July I’m playing The Cabin in Camberley again with my band Kodiak Island. Two sets from 4pm, free entry.
Our ‘Play To Your Strengths‘ ep has just been released digitally on the legendary label, Cherry Red Records. We will have a few of the vinyl 10″s and cd singles, released earlier this year on the i40 label, to sell at the gig.
Hopefully see you soon! X
