The Buzz Club: Bradford April 1989

‘Skin Storm’ by Bradford had come out in 1988 and I had the 7″.

Bradford are one of the few bands to play The Buzz Club twice. This was the first time, 15th April 1989Morrissey loved the band and invited them to support him on his first post Smiths show and later recorded a version of  ‘Skin Storm’.

We put ‘Morrisey’s favourites‘ on the poster to sell a few more tickets. We had about 170 people in.

Update – 1st October 2020 – Ian H, the singer from Bradford left a great comment – here it is:

‘I was there – singing on stage.
Unfortunately my recall is sketchy – I remember a school/gym looking type brick wall behind the stage or backstage and fully expecting a gang of squaddies to turn up to see us purely on the strength of our number two crops and there being a military base in townThink we went down pretty well and eternally grateful for the Buzz club inviting us back later in the year to play again. By that time though [November] ,the monster known as Madchester had truly spawned to gigantic proportions and less heads were seem bobbing in the crowd….Ian H.’

Thanks Ian – it was a pleasure! X
